Big. Huge. Gigantic. This turned out to be quite the update!
Originally the plan was just to add in our new 'pro' features but then I started making a list of all of the things that I wanted to add or adjust since our 4.0 release and I just kept going. Even if you're not interested in the new pro stuff, there's something here for everyone.
**What’s New**
- VegasMate upgrades. Yeah, this was supposed to be ready in November. It took a little longer. Apologies. Upgrade to remove ads, get faster content updates, access pro features and support the cause. If you're a previous purchaser, be sure to check if you're eligible for a free upgrade.
- "How Do I Get To... ?" A new feature that integrates directions into our mapping system to help you find your way, either by foot or via automobile. For iPhone 5S users, it even detects if you're walking or driving, automatically.
- Easily search from the map view, with one touch options for calling, directions, menus or indoor maps.
- Significant improvements to using VegasMate offline/without a data connection.
- Big improvements to the search system - it should now find stuff that didn't match properly before.
- Added several new news sources including some really great blogs you may not know about.
- Now view Foursquare tips for hotels, activities and restaurants as you pick where to eat, stay or play.
- Easily filter to only restaurants that are open with new toggle button.
- CabCheck now shows you the steps of the route it picked in text format.
- Contact the taxi authority from our CabCheck feature if you believe you have been long-hauled.
- If other hotels are mentioned in a description, they are now matched and linked up for easy access.
- Added an option to clear old trip backups.
- When your trip is complete, VegasMate will ask if you want to review the places you included.
- Big improvements to content update performance on iPhone 4.
- Dialed back some of my ill-advised use of some iOS 7 ideas like crazy blurry backgrounds that serve no purpose. Whoops. Sorry. Got too excited.
**Bug Fixes**
- Added a work-around for an iCloud bug that could crash the app if the iCloud container contained corrupt data. If the app was crashing a lot for you, this was likely the culprit. Contact support if you need more info.
- Fix for a bug where the nearby and search popovers weren't wide enough on iPad.
- If you have turned off Location Services, we will no longer prompt you for access over and over (if you want to turn them back on, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location).
- Fixed a bug where trip entries with alarms that were removed via iCloud sync from another device would still alarm.
- Fixed a bug where sometimes the main screen background tiles would not appear if the app had recently refreshed news in the background.
- Fixed a bug where tapping the info button for an item when adding it to a trip could cause a crash.
- Fixed a bug where headers for 'days' in trips could sometimes be off when you view/edit events from other timezones.
- Fixed a bug where search indexing could cause a crash in some instances.
- Fixed a bug where landscape photos might be improperly zoomed.
- Fixed a bug that would prevent the app from welcoming you to Las Vegas. :-(
- Less reloading of images on the main screen when transitioning between background and foreground.
- Animated hotel map doesn't zoom every freaking time anymore. Yikes, that was annoying.
- Checking for new content now happens more often, to ensure you have the most up to date content.
- And a bunch more… Lots of things updated and improved.
